Priority Deadline

What is the priority deadline for applying for academic year aid?
A student must complete the FAFSA and the PROFILE (full-time undergraduates), or FAFSA (graduate and professional) by February 15, either on-line or by completing the form, in order to meet the March 1 priority deadline for applying for aid for the upcoming academic year’s fall and spring aid.

What is the priority deadline for applying for summer school financial aid?
Summer Aid applications become available in the Office of Scholarships and Student Aid for currently enrolled students by early March and are due back to the Office of Scholarships and Student Aid by April 1.

Summer Aid applications for Dental Students become available by early March and are due by March 15.

What are the advantages to meeting the March 1 priority deadline?
Scholarships, grants, lower-interest loans, and funds for campus jobs are limited and can usually be offered only to students who meet the March 1 priority deadline.

How does the timing of a student's aid applications effect receipt of award notification?
Timing of financial aid award notices is dependent on the application filing date, and only those students who apply by March 1 can expect to have funds delivered at the beginning of the school year.

What if a student or parent has not completed their tax return by February 15 in relation to completing the aid applications?
A student should complete the forms to meet the priority filing date even though the federal tax returns have not been filed and estimate data about the previous tax year income must be reported.

What if an entering student has not been accepted by February 15, should they complete the aid applications?
An entering student should not wait for notification of admission but should file the necessary forms by the February 15 priority deadline. Usually, only loan and federal grant funds can be offered to late applicants, and it may not be possible to provide funds to late applicants until after classes begin.
