What is Student Central?
Student Central is the students' campus web portal used to provide students with easy online access to academic tools and information (e.g., Registrar's, Cashier's, Housing, Financial Aid, etc.)
How do I access my financial aid information at Student Central?
In order to log into Student Central, you must have both your unique ONYEN (Only Name You'll Ever Need at UNC-CH) and password. Any student, new or returning, who has not previously received notification of an assigned ONYEN and password OR who has not previously requested the creation of an ONYEN and password should visit help.unc.edu for instructions on how to create an ONYEN.
Once you have your ONYEN and password, to navigate to your financial aid information at Student Central:
Do I need to visit Student Central for any other reason besides checking on my financial aid?
Yes. You will want to access Student Central for many of your campus academic tools and information. Under registration services, you will be able to view and update your permanent, local, and next of kin addresses. When registration lines are open, students can register for classes, check their academic eligibility, view any stops they might have, search for course availability, view grades, see their schedule, check the progress of their degree application, update their privacy flags, and change their PAC (personal access code). Students are able to view their account history in the cashier’s services section and to see the preference they’ve indicated for receiving their refund checks for student aid funds.
Should I visit Student Central often?
Student Central provides very useful services to students. It offers the student information-gathering flexibility since many campus offices are not open past 5pm weekdays and are closed on weekends. Students can instantly view the status of registration and financial aid. Billing statements are available immediately instead of having to contact the University Cashier. Logging in is simple since a student can use his/her ONYEN and password to gain access.
We encourage you to first check your information at Student Central and search this website for answers to your questions. As always, however, if you still have questions about your financial aid after first checking these websites, you are welcome to call our Office at 919-962-8396 to speak with a staff member. Our phone lines are open from 9am to 4pm, Monday through Friday.
