The Office of Scholarships & Student Aid
Need-based Loans
The Office of Scholarships and Student Aid administers a number of student loan programs which provide low-interest, long-term loans to undergraduate, graduate and professional students. Once a student's need eligibility has been determined by the office, an Award Notification containing details of the award package will be sent.
- Most financial aid packages to undergraduate students include assistance from one or more loan programs. These programs include federal Perkins Loans, federal Stafford Loans, University loans, and Health Professional Student Loans. The majority of aid to graduate and professional students is from Stafford and Perkins Loans.
- The Office of Scholarships and Student Aid prefers that students who are awarded federal Stafford Loans choose from our list of Preferred Lenders for Federal Stafford Loans; however, students may request a specific lender.
- Loan repayment is postponed until after the student leaves the University and, in some cases, additional deferment and forbearance options are available. Research your loan forgiveness, cancellation, and discharge options.
