Interinstitutional programs

Under the Interinstitutional Program, any approved enrolled full-time degree seeking graduate or undergraduate student (excluding continuing studies, visiting, or non-degree students), may register for courses with appropriate approval at the following Universities:

  • North Carolina Central University
  • UNC-Charlotte
  • UNC-Greensboro
  • NC State
  • Duke University

No student will be allowed to take an interinstitutional course at a participating campus without being registered for the balance of his/her full load at UNC-Chapel Hill. You can find more information regarding course registration and eligibility on the University Registrar’s website.

Fall and Spring Terms

For academic year terms, students can register for one interinstitutional course (3 credit hours) per term, provided the student is registered for the remaining hours (9+ credit hours) of their full-time load at UNC-CH. Financial aid is then applied to all billed charges at UNC-CH. All courses will be billed at the UNC tuition rate (including interinstitutional courses).

Summer Terms

To receive aid, you must be enrolled  for at least one course (3+ credit hours) at UNC-CH in the same term that you are enrolled at one of the institutions referenced above.

consortium agreements

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill does not enter into consortium agreements as the home school for financial aid with any other institutions. If you have additional questions, do not hesitate to contact us.
