C. H. Morrison Scholarship

The Columbus H. Morrison Scholarship was established in 1943 by Fred W. Morrison in appreciation of his father’s and family’s sacrifices that enabled him to attend UNC and in appreciation of the value of UNC in his life. It is awarded for outstanding academic achievement to students who are preferably from Cabarrus, Orange or Rowan counties. C.H. Morrison Scholars are automatically invited to join the UNC Scholars Program.

Fred Morrison Scholarship

The Fred Morrison Scholarship was established in 1981 by Fred W. Morrison himself and is awarded for outstanding academic achievement to students from North Carolina who also have financial need. Fred Wilson Morrison earned his BA and MA at UNC and served as the Superintendent of Chapel Hill Graded Schools. After earning his PhD at Columbia, he served on the faculty of the NC College for Women. He later became a lawyer and worked in Washington, DC. Fred Morrison Scholars are automatically invited to join the UNC Scholars Program.

Mentors

As only a few scholars receive the Morrison Scholarships, they are grouped with other scholarship pods for mentorship. Currently, this includes Carolina, Johnston, Col. Robinson, and Pogue pods.
